CBD Oil For Dogs May Be The Best Defense Against Cancer

Getting the news that your dog has cancer can be devastating. Unfortunately, a dog has a 50 percent chance of developing the disease in their lifetime, so it a likely a pet owner will have to face at some point.

While the chances are high, there one possible natural way that might slow the growth of cancer or prevent it from coming on at all. Both scientists and veterinarians are beginning to think cannabis oil, otherwise known as CBD oil, may be a powerful ally in the fight against cancer.

Chemicals In CBD Oil Beneficial To Health

For thousands of years, cannabis has been used medicinally. The plant contains several chemicals known as cannabinoids, none of which creates the infamous “buzz” always associated with marijuana.

Two compounds, cannabinol and cannabidiol, have been shown in several studies to have health benefits. While CBD oil can be used to alleviate pain and maintain heart health, research suggests it can also treat or even prevent cancer.

Science Finds Natural Treatment In The Against Cancer

A 2009 study conducted by scientists at Compultense University in Spain, found brain tumors in mice effective shrunk after treatment with delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol. While delta-9THC does have a psychoactive component, human patients were also tested using CBD oil without the chemical, and similar results were achieved.

A study published in 2012 found CBD could prevent metastasis, which is the spread of cancer through the bloodstream. Cannabis can also stimulate appetite in pets suffering from cancer.

CBD Oil For Dogs Is Safe

While there is some evidence out to support CBD oil’s ability to fight cancer, additional research needs to be completed before a direct link can be established. However, CBD oil is considered safe for dogs, easy to use, and inexpensive.

With the potential benefits, CBD oil can be added to your pet’s daily nutrition regimen and may keep you from hearing the dreaded “your dog has cancer” news from the vet. While CBD oil side effects are generally mild and rare, it is highly recommended to speak with a dog health professional for advice before using it with your dog.
